Saturday was the Captain's Invitation, which saw 60 pairs compete in the event. The sun was shining, and the day was made for a fabulous occasion. Leading the way in the competition were a formidable duo Dave Pullen a member of Saddleworth of 52, and Marcus Wray a former member who played at Saddleworth since being a junior and now plays his golf at The Wilmslow GC. The pair were always on the cards for a successful round with both golfers knowing Saddleworth like the back of their hand!! The pair rocketed off with 27 points on the front 9!! However, it slowed down on the back 9, and the pair finished with 45 points to take the victory by 1 point. Well played!!
In the runners-up spot with 44 points and taking it on a card play-off were the man in form Dave Rhodes and Werneth member Alec Massey, who were both happy to settle for second place. In third on the card play-off were Martin Orme and his nephew Luke Hall, who plays at Ripon GC.
